The short version

We collect information when you fill in one of our forms, and we use it to reply to you and to run the directory. We do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you around the internet. There are no analytics or advertising cookies on this site.

Who is responsible for your information

Manati Bespoke Ltd, trading as Business Findr, is the data controller — the organisation that decides what happens to your information. Full details are at the bottom of this page. If you want to ask us anything about your data, email admin@businessfindr.co.uk.

What we collect

When you fill in a form. Our “Join Business Findr” and “Suggest a business” forms ask for things like a business name, a contact name, an email address, a phone number, a town or city, the type of business, a website or Instagram handle, and whatever message you write. Only some of those are required; you choose what to fill in.

When we speak to you. If we call or email you about listing your business, we keep notes of that conversation — when we spoke, what was said, and what to do next. That is how we avoid ringing people twice or forgetting to ring them back.

Automatically. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses and browser information. These exist for security and reliability and we do not use them to build a picture of you.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

• To reply to you and decide whether to list a business — our legitimate interests in running a business directory and in responding to people who get in touch with us.
• To keep notes of our contact with businesses — our legitimate interests in running our sales and listing process properly.
• To publish a business profile — our legitimate interests in operating a public directory. Business contact details we publish are the ones a business already makes public.
• To keep the site secure and working — our legitimate interests in protecting our systems.
• Where the law requires it — for example keeping records for tax purposes.

If we ever want to use your details for something you would not expect — marketing emails, for instance — we will ask you first, and you can change your mind at any time.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. We do use a small number of suppliers to run the site, and they process information on our instructions only:

• Supabase — our database and image storage. Our data is held in the London region.
• Vercel — hosts the website itself.
• Resend and Amazon SES — send the automatic emails our forms trigger, from servers in Ireland.
• Microsoft 365 — our own email inbox, where your message lands.

Some of these companies are based outside the UK. Where information leaves the UK, it is protected by the safeguards the law requires, such as the UK addendum to the standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Enquiries and the notes attached to them are kept while we are still talking to you, and afterwards for as long as it is useful to remember the conversation — so we do not cold-call someone who has already told us no. We review this periodically and delete what we no longer need. Published business profiles stay up while the business is listed. If you would like your enquiry deleted sooner, ask us and we will do it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

• give you a copy of the information we hold about you;
• correct anything that is wrong;
• delete it;
• stop or limit what we are doing with it;
• hand it over in a portable format, or send it to someone else;
• stop using it where we are relying on our legitimate interests, if you object.

Email admin@businessfindr.co.uk and we will deal with it. There is nothing to pay, and we will respond within a month.

If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.

Cookies

This site only uses cookies that are strictly necessary to make it work. There is no analytics or advertising tracking. The detail is on our cookie notice.

Children

This site is meant for adults and for people running businesses. We do not knowingly collect information about children.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant we will say so clearly rather than quietly editing it.
