Most directories are built by scraping. You end up with listings that are out of date, names spelled wrong, and reviews written by people with an axe to grind — or by nobody at all.
We do it the other way round. We find businesses worth knowing about, we go and see them, and then we write the profile ourselves. It is slower and it does not scale in a hurry. It also means that when we say somewhere is good, that is worth something.
We are starting in Bradford and Leeds because that is where we are. Other towns come next, and the list is partly driven by what people tell us.
How we work
- We go before we writeEvery business on here has been visited. The review is ours, written afterwards, in our own words. That is the whole point of the site — you are reading someone who actually turned up.
- No paid rankingsBusinesses can pay to be listed and to have a fuller profile. They cannot pay to be rated higher, featured, or called a FINDR Pick. Those are editorial choices and they stay that way.
- Independent firstChains are easy to find. We are more interested in the barber who has been on the same corner for twenty years and the café that sells out by two.
